Pothole Damage

From the Leader of Herefordshire Council
Dear Residents
Following the recent severe winter weather it is clear that considerable damage has been done to the road system in this Country. Locally we estimate over 5 million pounds worth in Herefordshire. We have instructed our contractor to repair them now but recognise that in most cases this is not the best long term solution.

A programme of patching and resurfacing will be rolled out afterwards in the new financial year. The implications on highways and other budgets are being considered.

Please report any potholes to the council's street care line on 01432 261800 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The council has used over 10,000 tonnes on Herefordshire's roads this winter so far, mostly during the first two weeks of January. A typical recent winter would normally require about 5,000 tonnes of grit for the entire season. This has cost nearly 2 million pounds nearly double normal year and it is still January!

Please pass on pothole contact details to any local residents.

Kind regards

Roger Phillips (Leader of Herefordshire Council)
