Originally financed by Eardisland Community Millennium Fund through a National Lottery Grant, Eardisland in Bloom became self-supporting and has, since 2007, produced some surplus funds, which ECMF has been able to use to support other community events and projects. The Annual in Bloom program has two aims: to maintain the accumulated planted benefits of previous years and to add one or more significant features each year, and to promote environmental awareness in the community.
Eardisland in Bloom are always keen to have volunteers to help.
Volunteer work will not be onerous. You choose what you would like to do. You choose when you would like to do it. There are various areas, e.g. the Herb Garden by the corner of the churchyard, which it is hoped volunteers will "adopt" on an annual basis. Each volunteer, or couple, is then free to keep a watching brief on their specific area and weed/prune etc. as needed. This can be fitted around all other commitments, absences from the village, the weather and any other relevant factors. A list of possible areas available for adoption has been compiled. If you are able and willing to give a few hours a year to helping enhance our village environment, please get in touch.
